Christmas’ Featured Organism: Picea abies

Picea abies

"Oh god! Where are my garlands, lights and Christmas balls? I'm NAKED!"

There’s still time before Christmas, so enjoy Picea abies, the Norway Spruce, one of the many species used as Christmas Trees. I’ll take a pause from university commitments for a while (I brilliantly passed all the exams I took in the last few days, even the dreaded Biochemistry exam), so I’m once again free to post more often on this blog, and I’ll try to do so. Now go decorating your personal gymnosperm, and have a merry Christmas!

Christmas’ Featured Organism: Christopher Hitchens (1949-2011)

I was going to feature the Norway Spruce (Picea abies) or some other Christmas-y plant this friday, and then I go read a SMBC cartoon and, moving the cursor on the lower-left red dot usually containing additional jokes, I discover that Christopher Hitchens is dead. Not very surprising given the terrible illness he had to fight with in the past year or so, but still quite shocking somehow. Bye, Hitch. Thank you for your inestimable contribution to freethinking.
